The San Francisco Declaration on Research Assessment(externer Link) formulates principles for good practice in the assessment of research performance. According to this declaration, the diversity of research results and findings should be adequately taken into account in evaluation; at the same time, greater priority should be attached to the actual content of published research than to the relevant indicators and metrics (e.g. impact factor).
